Later, as a Member of Knesset (from the centrist Blue and White Party), I worked to establish the first-of-its-kind caucus dedicated to advancing the Abraham Accords. In that capacity, I spearheaded meaningful initiatives to promote regional stability and strengthen ties between Israel and Arab states.
Earlier in my career, I served as an advisor to President Shimon Peres, and later as Deputy Director General and Head of the International Division of the Federation of Local Authorities in Israel, which brings together all municipalities across the country.
Throughout my career, I have chaired countless international conferences in Israel and abroad, and delivered hundreds of lectures to audiences worldwide. For many years, I have also been deeply engaged in public diplomacy-volunteering to give interviews to major international media outlets about developments in Israel and the Arab world.
Ever since I had immigrated from South Africa to Israel, on my own, at the age of 17, whether I was moderating a conference in New York, delivering a lecture in Madrid, or speaking in Washington, one clear purpose has always driven me: to strengthen the resilience of the State of Israel and the Jewish people.
My deep familiarity with the Arab world and the Middle East has taught me that real change takes place only when we dare to ask the hard questions and have the courage to confront the often uncomfortable answers. That is, while always keeping in mind that Israel’s security and the unity of the Jewish people are key for survival of our people.
We live in a challenging neighborhood, one that presents us with existential threats. We must recognize these challenges and prepare for them, while simultaneously identify the opportunities that present themselves in our region.
I invite you to pause and re-examine what may seem obvious. Behind every headline and every debate lie deeper layers of identity and interests…
I will take you on a journey through our fascinating region-one that continues to shape our lives and will impact the lives of generations to come.

Anyone who has lived in the Middle East knows, that the picture painted in the headlines is only the tip of the iceberg and that the Middle East and the Arab World comprise much more than initially meets the eye...
I hold a Master’s degree from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and am a research fellow at the Misgav Institute for National Security.
Having specialised in international relations, I served the State of Israel as a diplomat and Deputy Ambassador at the Israeli Embassy in Egypt.
During my years in Egypt, I had the privilege of experiencing -firsthand- the essence of Egyptian society-its mentality, culture, and spirit. At the same time, I undertook the study of Islam, which, alongside the Arabic language, allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the parallel universe in which I lived. I was then a young, single Israeli Jewish woman, serving as a representative of the Israeli government in an Arab country.

The Middle East - Not what you expected

Unveiled, in Cairo
A young Israeli diplomat in a senior position serves the Jewish state in the heart of Cairo…
She interacts, on a daily basis, with politicians, government officials and officers, in the wake of unabated hatred and suspicion of anything or anybody Israeli…
She is often surrounded by intelligence personnel, at times seen and at times in the shadows, who follow her every move…
Three intriguing years of complex diplomacy, constant surveillance and random bouts of touching humanism…
